Frequently Asked Questions

Is Brownian free to play?

Yes, Brownian is completely free to play. Since we incurr in some cost, the game is supported by advertisements. We've designed the ad experience to be as respectful of gameplay as possible.

How do I restore my progress after reinstalling?

Game progress is stored locally on your device. If you uninstall the app, your progress may be lost.

Why does the steel ball sometimes get a boost from the bottom?

This is an intentional game mechanic called "auto-bump." When the steel ball loses too much vertical momentum and settles at the bottom, it receives a small upward boost to keep the game moving. This prevents situations where you'd be stuck waiting for the ball to stop.

Can I play offline?

Yes! Once the game is loaded, you can play completely offline. The only features requiring internet are ads, which you probably won't miss so much either :)

How do I turn off sounds or music?

Tap the settings icon (gear) in the game to access audio controls. You can independently adjust or mute sound effects and background music.

Why don't the particles change color when they hit each other?

Only the steel ball can change particle colors. Particle-to-particle collisions are purely physical, they transfer momentum but don't affect colors. This is by design to give you control over color changes through your steel ball shots.

What is Brownian motion?

Brownian motion is a real scientific phenomenon where microscopic particles suspended in a fluid exhibit random, jittery movement due to collisions with invisible molecules. The game is named after this effect, which inspired the gentle random motion of the colored particles. Learn more on our Credits page.

How many levels are there?

Brownian currently features 105 levels with progressively increasing difficulty given the increasing combination of colors. The more colors are in the sequence, the harder it is to get the sequence right. The star system rewards you only when you really get the minimal sequence bringing you We may add new levels in teh future

Is there a way to remove ads?

Currently, we don't offer an ad-free purchase option. The ads help support continued development as a solo project. In the future we might consider doing and ad-free version>

The game runs slowly on my device. What can I do?

We tried to optimize it for older devices, but some old device may still struggle. If you're experiencing performance issues, please let us know so we can investigate.
